Some websites powered by the BIOAPP

Underwater Observers Nertwork (ROSM)

Online since may 2008

The Underwater observers network is a non-profit organization dedicated to help protecting our aquatic environments. It has been online since may 2008.

"The Bioapp is a fantastic tool for anyone who wants to set up and manage a network of monitoring or surveillance. Its use is simple and easy and allows anyone who, like me, have no programming knowledge, to not only manage a website but expand it, modify it and adjust it according to their needs. We were able, when the Underwater Observers Network decided to integrate the ability to report observations in fresh water (only those in the marine environment were then possible), to do it in less than an hour's work. The Result is most professional, and we have so far had nothing but praise about the usability of our website by our members. This success is due to Bioapp.."

Invasive plant Watch network (RSPEE)

Online since january 2010

Invasive plants put ecosystem ecological integrity at risk and often have negative economic impacts. Moreover, invasive species are known worldwide as the second greatest cause of loss of biodiversity. Thus, to protect a region as wide as the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River, it is essential to map their distribution and follow their dispersion to better control them. To accomplish such a huge task, observers throughout the region are needed to assist in the gathering of data and in early detection of new threats.

(Translated from French)

"The innovative BIOAPP Web application is very useful for collecting and presenting observations on invasive alien plants in Quebec. It's user-friendly, easy to use and facilitates the sharing of data. The mapping tool allows users to easily visualize the spatial distribution of invasive alien species in Quebec. This application supports the rallying of a wide variety of observers and thus could contribute significantly to early detection of new invasive alien plants on our territory.

Your participation in the development of Invasive Plant Watch Network has been greatly appreciated and the tool you've developed is a significant contribution to knowledge about the distribution of these plants in Quebec.

Shark Observation Network (SON)

Online since October 2010

The Shark Observation Network (www.sharksonline.net) is a partnership of the Greenland Shark and Elasmobranch Education and Research Group (GEERG), the Shark Research Institute (SRI), and the BIOAPP. The network supports the collection and organisation of data as well as the development and dissemination of information concerning the state of shark and elasmobranch populations and their worldwide distribution.

"The BIOAPP has allowed us to quickly establish a user-friendly shark database for divers and the general public. Developing and maintaining the Shark Observation Network couldn’t have been simpler. Adding or modifying files including text and images is quick and easy. Likewise, members can easily post their own observations and photos as well as conduct general or highly detailed searches for individual or multiple species throughout the entire database. Personalized support and technical assistance are offered from start to finish for a pleasant experience even for someone with minimal computer skills. I sincerely believe that the BIOAPP is the best product on the market for our project and we couldn’t be more pleased with the look, features and ease of use of our new website."
